Accessible Services

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library is dedicated to providing equal access to its customers, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities.

We Provide the Following Services

  • Large Print fiction and nonfiction books
  • Audiobooks on CD, MP3, and through streaming apps available to library cardholders
  • Memory Kits are created specifically for people with dementia, memory loss, or cognitive impairment. Each kit is a themed collection of materials that help individuals to reminisce and create meaningful conversation. 
  • Descriptive and closed-captioned movies
  • Golden Buckeye Card 
  • Our Ontario and Plymouth branches feature a MagnaSight Explorer, a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) which magnifies materials for vision-impaired customers. (Donated by the Ontario Lions Club)
  • The Bellville branch has an Enhanced Vision Merlin which features an LCD monitor and high contrast settings for viewing materials. (Donated by the Bellville Lions Club)
  • Sign Language interpreters for programming available upon request
  • Accessible handicapped parking
  • Accessible entrances and restrooms
  • Talking Books Program, which “provides free recorded books, magazines, and playback equipment to eligible blind, visually impaired, physically handicapped, and reading disabled (Richland County) residents.” Find out more here.
  • Customers who are unable to leave their homes due to physical limitations, and who have no means of obtaining Library materials through family members or friends, may be eligible for our Books by Mail program. Books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and other materials will be mailed every six weeks to those who qualify.  For information on Books By Mail call 419-522-3001.
  • Select materials (including greeting cards, personal letters, restaurant menus, etc.) can be transcribed into Unified English Braille free of charge. Call the Media Department at 419-521-3120 for more information.
  • Our staff has access to Language Line, which allows them to contact an interpreter for our patrons who do not speak English.
