The Library is partnering with PCs for People to bridge the digital divide in Richland County.
Eligible customers* can shop with PCs for People to purchase low-cost computers and internet service and pick up their purchase weekdays at any MRCPL location.
PCs for People is a national nonprofit social enterprise working to get low-cost quality computers and internet into the homes of individuals, families, and nonprofits with low income. By recycling and then refurbishing computers, PCs for People provides a valuable service to businesses, families, and the planet by keeping computers out of landfills and repurposing them to advance digital inclusion.
Though we wish we could provide low-cost technology to everyone, we focus our efforts on internet solutions and computer access for individuals who need it most.
To place an order with us, customers must be currently participating in a government-based assistance program or have a qualifying household income (less than 200% of federal poverty guidelines (see chart below) or 60% of area median income). Before completing your order, PCs for People requires photo identification and income documentation to ensure that customers meet our eligibility criteria. Find out more here.Â
