The Adventure Pass connects library cardholders to cultural experiences for people of all ages supporting a vibrant quality of life in Richland County. 

Adventure Pass Partners

Formerly known as Little Buckeye Children’s Museum, this hands-on, play-based children’s museum is perfect for families with children ages 2-10 years old. With nearly 40 interactive exhibits, children can explore real world experiences. A single Adventure Pass to the museum is valid for up to four people and unlimited visits for three days, including the day of checkout. 

Kingwood Center Gardens is renowned for horticultural excellence, historical significance, and community engagement. Kingwood Center is committed to providing transformative guest experiences within its exquisite garden estate. A single Adventure Pass to Kingwood Center admits 4 people. Children 12 years and under are admitted free. The pass is valid for one visit on the day of checkout or up to two days after. After the third day, the pass expires. 

Note: Adventure Passes are valid for general garden admission only and may not be used for special events including Wine Walk, the Great Pumpkin Glow, Christmas at Kingwood, and any other event days as determined by Kingwood Center Gardens. For details, visit their webpage here.

Oak Hill was built by John Robinson in 1847 on a hill overlooking the town, then a few thousand populations, and close by the railroad he had helped to build. This Gothic Revival house has been the focal point of the view to the north from the center of the town ever since. Oak Hill is open to the public on Sundays from April through December (except Easter Sunday). A single Adventure Pass to Oak Hill Cottage is valid for one visit for up to 2 adults and any children 12 and under living in the household.

Note: Oak Hill Cottage is only open on Sundays. If the Pass is checked out on a Sunday, it must be used that same day. If the Pass is checked out on a day other than Sunday, it must be used on the following Sunday. 

 

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is a haven for native birds, nature preserve, and living museum. OBS is dedicated to caring for and rehabilitating Ohio native birds, protecting natural habitat, and creating opportunities for people to engage with nature. A single Adventure Pass to OBS is valid for admission for up to 2 people. The pass is valid for one visit on the day of checkout or up to two days after. After the third day, the pass expires.

YOGA
This Adventure Pass is redeemable for 1 pass to take part in a Yoga class at the Richland Academy of the Arts. Yoga classes are available on Thursdays from 6:15-7 PM from February 23 to March 9, 2023. Pass must be used for the next available class. Pass will expire the day after the next available class.

SALSA
This Adventure Pass is redeemable for 2 passes to take part in a Salsa class at the Richland Academy of the Arts. Salsa classes are available on Wednesdays from 7:15-8 PM from January 11 to May 3, 2023. Pass must be used for the next available class. Pass will expire the day after the next available class.

KENPO/SELF-DEFENSE
This Adventure Pass is redeemable for 1 pass to take part in a martial arts (Kenpo) self-defense class at the Richland Academy of the Arts. Kenpo classes are available on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-7:30 PM on March 2 or May 4, 2023. Pass must be used for the next available class. Pass will expire the day after the next available class.

Passes can only be used for one visit to the Richland Academy of the Arts.

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO WATER DAMAGE

Stroll the halls and visit the cells of some of history’s toughest criminals. Tour the intact set of the iconic movie, The Shawshank Redemption. Whether you’re reliving scenes from classic films, hunting for the paranormal, or basking in beautiful Romanesque architecture, take a walk through history at The Ohio State Reformatory. A single Adventure Pass to OSR is valid for one, self-guided tour for up to 2 adults and the minor children of one household. The pass is valid for one visit on the day of checkout or up to two days after. After the third day, the pass expires.

Broadway-style musicals, symphonies, concerts, family and educational events—the Renaissance Theatre “aspires to be a model for advancing the creative spirit of a community through the power of the arts.” A single Adventure Pass to The Renaissance Theatre is valid for up to 2 performance tickets. Tickets will be available on the Monday 2 weeks prior to the opening night of each show.

Adventure Pass Policy

  • Due to the limited supply, Adventure Passes may only be checked out in the Circulation Department at the Main Library.
  • Only one Adventure Pass can be checked out on a library card at any given time. See the information associated with each partner above for pass validity details. 
  • Adventure Passes are available to customers ages 18+ years old who have library cards in good standing. 
  • Passes cannot be put on hold. They are available on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Borrowers must present their photo ID to check out a Pass and must also present it when redeeming the Pass at a destination.
  • Teacher and Institutional cards cannot be used to check out Adventure Passes, but they are available for new cards, temporary cards, and Lobby Stop cards.
  • Each Adventure Pass will include a receipt or voucher, with an expiration date, and an informational flyer. In most cases, the Pass will be a library checkout receipt with the borrower’s name and the date of the checkout.
  • Passes are non-renewable but do not need to be returned. 
  • Adventure Pass holders are responsible for confirming admission restrictions, facility hours, etc. directly with the partnering location. 

    Each participating community partner sets its own rules for how many individuals are covered under their passes and all guidelines for use.
