Summer Library Program

Kids

School’s out, and it’s time for the Summer Library Program! We want to help students avoid the “summer reading slump” and help little ones get excited about reading, all while having lots of fun! This year’s program, Unearth a Story, begins June 1 and ends July 25. The Summer Library Program isn’t just for kids and teens; adults can participate, too! Learn how here.

How It Works

Read books, attend any of our fabulous programs, and win prizes!

The reading goals and activities are suggestions – feel free to modify them to best complement your child’s reading abilities and interests.

Early Literacy and Bingo                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Grades K-6 

  1. Sign up anytime between June 1 and July 25. Get your Activity Sheet and have fun filling it out!
  2. Return a completed Activity Sheet, get a prize, and stamp your reading log. Each Activity Sheet will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing.
  3. When you have turned in 5 completed Activity Sheets, you can pick a free book (available starting June 15). Each additional Activity Sheet you complete (up to 8 total) will get you one extra entry for the Grand Prize drawing.


Grand Prize drawings will be held at each location the week of July 27.

Disguise a Dinosaur Contest

Let your child’s coloring skills shine in our coloring contest! From June 15 through July 11, pick up an entry form at any location or download one below. Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Pre-K, Grades K-2, and Grades 3-5. There will be one winner per age group, and winners will be announced at each library location.

Bookmobile

Head out to one of the Bookmobile’s stops this summer to browse, pick up holds, and join the Summer Library Program. Kids can pick up a Discovery card and with every third visit, they earn a prize!
