Website Policy

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library (MRCPL) is committed to preserving the privacy of our staff, customers, and other contacts.

MRCPL will not collect information about you when you visit our website, use our app, or register for a program or a library card unless you choose to provide that information to us. Any information you choose to provide will only be used to provide or improve library services.

Personal identifying information that you provide by emails or web forms will be used only for the purpose you provide them for – registering for programs, submitting suggestions or concerns, etc. If you provide contact information, MRCPL may contact you in response to your comment or question, or to confirm a program registration.

MRCPL does not sell or share information collected on our website or app to outside parties. Information that you share with us remains with us, and is not used for any other purpose.

MRCPL uses Google Analytics to track general use of the library website and app, but does not track or permanently record information about individuals and their visits. The information collected includes the Internet domain from which access to our site was given, the type of browser and operating system used, the date and time of access, the pages visited and for how long, and the address of the website from which the initial visit was launched, if any. MRCPL uses this information to help make our website and app more useful to visitors. The data collected is not connected to your personal information or identity.

MRCPL’s website and app contain links to other sites. MRCPL is not responsible for the privacy of other sites, which may be different from the privacy practices outlined in this policy. MRCPL has no control over the nature, content or availability of these sites. The inclusion of any links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorse the views expressed within them.

While the information contained within the website and app is periodically updated, no guarantee is given that the information provided in the website/app is correct, complete, and/or up-to-date.

MRCPL recognizes that law enforcement agencies and officers may occasionally believe that library records contain information which may be helpful to the investigation of criminal activity. If there is a reasonable basis to believe such records are necessary to the progress of an investigation or prosecution, the American judicial system provides the mechanism for seeking release of such confidential records. Library records will not be made available to any agency of state, federal or local government except pursuant to such process, order or subpoena as may be authorized under the authority of, and pursuant to, federal, state, or local law relating to civil, criminal, or administrative discovery procedures or legislative investigatory power.

All users of the website and app agree to hold MRCPL harmless from any and all claims, losses, damages, obligations or liabilities, directly or indirectly relating to the website, app, and/or the networked information available via the website/app, caused thereby or arising therefrom. In no event shall MRCPL have any liability for lost profits or for indirect, special, punitive, or consequential damages or any liability to any third party, even if MRCPL is advised of the possibility of such damages.
