June 22 @ 6 PM: "Images Fit for A King: The Art of Stephen King’s Work" a special presentation by Dr. Carl Sederholm, Professor at Brigham Young University. Join Dr. Sederholm as he speaks on work by three artists commonly associated with Stephen King: Bernie Wrightson, Michael Whelan, and Dom Brautigam. He will discuss why these artists are central to experiencing Stephen King's fiction and why we should pay attention to their work. He will also make connections between these artists and other influential works within popular culture, including comic art, album art, and book illustration. Location: Element of Art96 N. July 18 @ 6 PM: Discussion with Dr. Phil Simpson of Eastern Florida State College about King’s recent crime trilogy (Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers and, End of Watch) which shows King at his most experimental, both busting and fusing normally discrete genres (the detective thriller, the psychological thriller, the paranormal thriller, and his signature horror thriller) into one series of novels. Location: Main Street Books @ 104 N.
