August 15 @ 6 PM, A special presentation: "It's a Strange Thing, Mr. King" Presenter: Mary E Findley, PhD Associate Professor, Vermont Technical College
In many ways watching the Netflix hit Stranger Things is like watching a "Best of Stephen King" montage that just happens to have a stellar storyline and an even more amazing cast. Stephen King, himself, has commented on both his love of the show and on his influence within it. This presentation will examine the many ways Stranger Things pays homage to the King of horror and will explore where it tends to part ways. This presentation welcomes dialogue and audience participation. What do you love about Stephen King? What do you love about Stranger Things?  How do you see these two worlds intersecting? Dr. Findley will also present a short talk before the movie It at the Renaissance Theater, at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 16. Location: Idea Works 40 W. 4th St, Mansfield, OH 44902.
