Luigi's Mansion 3 [Nintendo Switch] - Video Game Review

I have long been a fan of Nintendo and its exclusive characters, particularly Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, and all of their cohorts. (I can extoll Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf in another review.) Released on October 31, Luigi’s Mansion 3 is the latest game in the Mario franchise. Once again, Luigi finds himself in a haunted, ghost-filled mansion attempting to simultaneously save his friends (Mario, Princess Peach, and various Toads) and defeat the main boss, King Boo. The game consists of various, thematic levels that include puzzles, hidden gem stones, and boss fights. Each boss fight awards Luigi with an elevator button that allows him to access the next level of the game. Although I am not *quite* done with the game (I’m on the 14th of approximately 17 levels), I would readily recommend it to other Switch players – the puzzles are intriguing, but not impossible; the bosses are occasionally difficult, but not out of reach; and the hidden gem stones encourage you to inspect every nook and cranny of the level that you’re on. My only true complaint is that the view is not 360 – you look into the rooms and levels from the same, constant vantage point – and that can occasionally make battling foes more difficult. Overall, I think players of all ages would enjoy this game - but maybe not those who prefer action RPGs (like my husband).

Overall Rating: A
