One of the most beloved Christmas stories of all time is definitely The Nutcracker. This story about a little girl who receives a nutcracker as a Christmas gift and is thrown into a world of fighting mice and lots of sweets brings children and adults alike together to share in the spirit of the holidays.
Here at the library, we are pleased to offer a Nutcracker program for homeschooling families! This program will be held in the Children's Department at Main Library Friday, November 22, at 1:00 PM. We are excited to have Sarah Horrigan-Ramos from the Richland Academy of the Arts back again this year to immerse us in the ballet of The Nutcracker! Come prepared to hear the story and music of The Nutcracker and help bring the ballet to life! Appropriate for children of school age, Sarah does a wonderful job retelling this beloved classic. From sword fights with the Mouse King to the dance of the sugar plum fairy, each scene is explained and acted out--you may even get to play a part! Because of the popularity of this program, we do ask that you sign up here.
We hope you are able to join us! In the meantime, here are a few crafts and resources to use at home!
