September 5: The Lucas Branch is open and ready for business!
Work is proceeding to assess any possible damage to the exterior of the building's foundation, but the library administration, township trustees, and architectural consultants are confident that the building is safe to use
The branch will be open regular hours, starting today; all regular activities - programs, story times, etc. resume today.
We will continue to post information as it becomes available, and we thank you for your patience during the past few weeks.
August 27: The Lucas Branch remains closed, but we're moving toward a solution. The Library is working with the Monroe Township Trustees to ensure the safety of the building. From the inside, the problem doesn't appear to affect the stability of the foundation; in the next few days, work will be done to assess the integrity of the foundation from the exterior. If the foundation is sound, the interior wall would be repaired and the branch would reopen.
We can't tell you when these things will happen. We can tell you that we're trying diligently to restore service to the Lucas area. In the meantime, our other locations are open and ready to serve.

We continue to appreciate your patience and support.
August 19: The Lucas Branch is closed due to dangerous structural damage. We anticipate that it will be closed the next few days as we assess the situation and work toward a solution. The safety of our customers and employees is our priority.
The book drop at the Lucas Branch is still accessible to return materials and people with items on hold are being contacted. We will keep our website and social media updated as we get more information. We apologize for this inconvenience.« Back to Blog
