Yes, you read that right. The Main Library in downtown Mansfield will be getting a new entrance to the parking garage. The original plan included an entrance/exit onto Third Street; for many reasons, that was changed to Mulberry Street when the expansion took place in 1989. The Board of Trustees decided earlier this year to explore the option of restoring the original plan, with a Third Street entrance/exit. The 2-way conversion of Mulberry Street did help in that decision, but it wasn't the only factor.
What does this mean for you? Construction will be starting soon, and preparation for that construction will begin even sooner. We'll be using this space to keep you updated on the progress of this project.
Important to remember: The parking garage will not be closed during the remodeling. The new entrance will be constructed, we'll switch entrances, then the old entrance will be closed in. We'll lose a couple of spaces while work is being done, but the garage will be open.
Friday, July 12: Purdy Construction will be working on the sidewalk along Third Street. The sidewalk will be closed but there should be no impact on the use of the garage.
