Halloween (2018) - Movie Review

Halloween might be my favorite holiday, but the new Halloween film (2018) doesn't even come close to making my list of favorite movies. To be honest, I'm not a fan of horror movies: I'm jumpy, and I don't like the nighttime CONJURING of HAUNTING nightmares that they cause. However, my husband was going to watch it and, since the kids were down for naps, the house was a QUIET PLACE, so I thought I would give it a try. The movie opens in Smith's Grove Rehabilition Facility, where Michael Myers has been studied for many years. However, he is being moved to a different, much less appealing facility, and - predictably - an accident occurs during transport, allowing Michael to GET OUT of the vehicle and escape. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), who got away from Michael all those years before, then makes IT her mission to be the one to find him. While Michael’s reputation does help CARRIE the movie to the end, the storyline itself progressed only through a series of increasingly-difficult-to-believe coincidences. Though I had expected to SCREAM during the film, what I SAW just didn't impress me that much. Overall, lovers of the franchise will likely go PSYCHO over it, but as a true horror movie, I feel like it just MIST its mark.
