December 5th is International Volunteer Day, a day to recognize, encourage, appreciate, and promote volunteerism in local communities around the world.
The Christmas season is already in full swing, and rather than focus on what you want, how about taking some time to focus on what you can give? School children can collect socks for those staying in homeless shelters, collect canned goods to donate to local food banks, or hold a penny drive to donate money to fulfill local needs. Community organizations also offer multiple opportunities for students to give of their time to help others this month.
