November 19, 2018 0 comments

November brings us National American Indian Heritage Month. There are many ways you can celebrate with your students in the classroom. Try one of these sites for interesting and engaging ways to learn about Native American heritage.

  • PBS shares online documentaries, short films, resources, and recipes.

  • Penguin Random House offers books that celebrate and offer insight into Native life.

  • The National Education Association (NEA) includes teacher and student resources for 3 different groups: K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

  • Scholastic provides multiple lesson plans for a variety of grades and includes information on the history of Native Americans, Native Americans today, art and culture, and traditional stories.

  • The First Nations Development Institute highlights recommended reads for students of all ages and in all grades.

Stop by the library to see what other quality resources and books we can provide for you and your students this month.
