Everything is Love the newest album released this year in 2018 by The Carters, better known as the power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Apparently, this album was a complete surprise to the world, it was unveiled at the final London performance of their On the Run II Tour, and was released with no prior announcement or promotion on June 16, 2018 this past summer. Beyoncé announced to the crowd that the duo had a surprise before leaving the stage. Then, the music video for the first released single of the album "Apeshit" played on the LED video screen onstage. Following the conclusion of the video, the words "ALBUM OUT NOW" came across the screen for everyone to see! This of course was the BIG SURPRISE to all of the fans! What a grand finale I must say! Everything is Love completes their trilogy of albums with a powerful celebration of love, family and legacy for the Carters with guest performances on it from the Migos, Offset, Quavo, Rory from Stone Love, and Ty Dolla $ign. It is majority a rap album with a mix of reggae, soul, and R&B. I cannot deny being a Jay-Z and Beyoncé fan but I was not impressed at all by this album. Personally, I did not like any of the 10 songs released, not even the hyped single “Apeshit” which was not only produced by the Carters, but the well renowned producer Pharrell Williams. Everything Is Love received rave reviews from critics, but my review gives it a “thumbs down”! Overall rating: D
