Today marks National Punctuation Day!!!! (Did you see what we did there?!?!) Well, we've got some terrific titles to help you celebrate those happy little punctuation marks. Young and old alike can brush up on the pesky rules. The library has a full collection of books that teach and entertain (sometimes at the same time!).
Lynne Truss, the author of Eats Shoots & Leaves, The Girl's Like Spaghetti, and Twenty-odd Ducks, takes us on a punctuation journey to discover why the comma, the apostrophe, and other marks are so important in our written language. With pictures by Bonnie Timmons, these clever books literally illustrate the point! General punctuation books such as Punctuation Power by Martin Terban, Punctuation Takes a Vacation by Robin Pulver, Punctuation Celebration by Elsa Knight Bruno, and The Punctuation Station by Brian P. Cleary all show the use and function of punctuation marks and why we should always use them. Finally, The Perfect Pop-up Punctuation Book by Kate Petty (along with that awesome alliteration in the title) gives us a 3-D look at the marks themselves.
