Hoopla is a free app that lets library users instantly borrow ebooks, eaudiobooks, comics, movies, music and more. There aren’t any late fees because items are automatically returned and removed from your device once your lending period is over. It is easy to download the app in the App Store, Google Play Store, and Amazon apps.
Library users need their library card number and their PIN to access Hoopla. If you don’t know your PIN you can call your local library to reset it. Also, if you need help using Hoopla stop by your local library and a librarian will gladly assist you.
Hoopla is also available on the web and titles can be streamed through your desktop browser. The app lets users download items to their devices so they can use them later if Wi-Fi is unavailable. For example, you can download a video to your tablet then watch it later on a long road trip. Mansfield Richland County Public Library users get to borrow ten items a month on Hoopla.
Teachers looking for S.T.E.A.M. related items can find them on Hoopla such as Sid the Science Kid videos, picture books like Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty, and eaudiobooks like Ada’s Ideas by Fiona Robinson. Hoopla is always adding new items to their collection.
There is also a Kids Mode for kids up to age 12 which should be used with parental guidance. Kids Mode has titles rated G to PG. It is easy to activate Kids Mode by going into your account and into settings then click or tap on Kids Mode. Your account information and borrowing history is private on Hoopla.
