The movie I Feel Pretty tries to be the quintessential feel-good movie. It has a theme that should help make all women embrace themselves for who they are but the storyline falls shy of giving us that battle cry. Renee Bennett (Amy Schumer) is the main character who has a hapless job and an average body. She attempts to try her hand at a spinning class with no success the first time and the bump on the head the second time that makes her believe that she is now supermodel beautiful. After the mishap in the spinning class, Renee’s life takes a turn for the better, of course. She moves from a basement office in Timbuktu to the corporate office in swanky downtown. She finds romance with an average man who of course ends up adoring her. There is a downside, as Renee manages to alienate her best friends Mallory (Emily Ratajkowski) and Vivian (Aidy Bryant). The plot then takes the expected turn where Renee has everything she thinks she wants but manages to make a mess of things after another hit to the head brings her back to reality. As expected the film ends on a happy note. However, it lacks those great laugh-out-loud moments and it is hard to get past the tired plot. Overall Rating: C
