Murder on the Orient Express is based off of an Agatha Christie novel. There was also an earlier version of the book put to film in 1974 starring Albert Finney as Hercule Poirot. The 2017 movie starts by introducing you to Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) who is the greatest detective on any case. You are then introduced to an amazing cast of characters portrayed by a talented group of artists that include; Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, and Michelle Pfeiffer just to name a few. While on the train from Istanbul to England a murder occurs and the train is derailed by a small avalanche. Now the great Poirot must find the killer before anyone else is harmed. It is a perfect case of who-dunnit as you try to unravel the truth. There are plenty of twists to keep you guessing. If you like mysteries then this is a great movie. However, it was a little hard to keep up with the fast talking and accents used in the film, but it did inspire me to reacquaint myself with Agatha Christie’s great volume of works.
