Midwest Heartland: Theodore Roosevelt to the Homestead Act

This informational video caught my eye since I love to travel and have not had the ability yet to get farther west than Illinois. The Midwest heartland portion of the Discoveries…America National Parks series takes you to North Dakota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Kansas. This is only a one hour video so it just touches on a couple of places in each state. However, the video does give you a great glimpse of what you can find in your travels. I enjoyed hearing of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota and Scotts Bluff in Nebraska. You also get a chance to learn about Mackinac Island in Michigan and the home of the first fudge shop. The narration can be a bit staid at times and the elevator music used through the video seems like a throw-back to my grade school days and the educational movies we were forced to watch. If you can see past these, then this is an informative video that just might help you plan your next vacation. We carry about 25 other videos from this series and both my husband and I are eager to check out a few more of them. If you have the travel bug, then I suggest checking out this series to help you get ideas for your next adventure. If you are not someone with wanderlust, then this is a wonderful way to learn a little bit about our great nation without ever leaving the comfort of your home. Overall rating: A
