“Alice Through the Looking Glass” is the sequel to the 2010 live-action version of “Alice in Wonderland.” In the film, Alice (Mia Wasikowska) must go back in time to save the Mad Hatter’s family from the Jabberwocky (which perished in the first movie) and go against Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) as he attempts to foil her efforts. Johnny Depp (the Mad Hatter), Helena Bonham Carter (the Red Queen), and Anne Hathaway (the White Queen) round out the leading roles. Despite the film’s all-star cast, detailed costuming, and glorious computer-generated scenery, the storyline didn’t hold my attention: It felt haphazard and disjointed – but perhaps it was meant to be that way due to its Wonderland setting. The film did include several humorous parts, but they largely centered around creative word play. Families with children might enjoy the film, but, if you haven’t seen the original, don’t waste your time.
