The Image Revolution is an entertaining documentary delving into the history of seven comic book artists - Rob Liefold (Deadpool), Jim Lee (X-Men), Marc Silvestri (Wolverine), Erik Larsen (Savage Dragon), Whilce Portacio (X-Factor), Jim Valentino (Guardians of the Galaxy), and Todd Mcfarlane (Spawn) - who all left Marvel Comics in 1992 to form their own company, Image Comics. The film is appealing to both comic book fans and those not familiar with the artists, because the interviews reveal how each artist started drawing, and also what influenced their individual styles of sketching. Industry insiders and many comic artists give their spin on the rise, fall, and recovery of Image Comics. Newer artist, Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) recounts how Image comics gave him his big break in the business. The archival footage and interviews with the artists and industry insiders make this film charismatic and impressive to people with particular interests in either the comic world or film history.
