My Beating Teenage Heart by C. K. Kelly Martin
In this book, a girl named Ashlyn suddenly finds herself in a dark and lonely place. She doesn’t comprehend the reasons behind her appearance in this darkness, but throughout time, she finally realizes the shuddering truth—she’s dead. As she tries to remember her life that she’s left behind, she finds herself drawn to a boy, Breckon, who recently lost his little sister, Skylar. As Ashlyn acts as Breckon’s guardian angel, she tries to help him through his rough patches and depressing lifestyle.
I found this book absolutely fascinating. I honestly could not put down the book. (I was almost late to a TAB meeting, because I was so involved in this story!) Although it is upsetting and quite saddening, the whole message behind the tears is amazing. Page after page, I grew more and more attached to these characters and their stories. I was terribly disappointed that the story ended because it was one the greatest books I’ve read. Kudos to C. K. Kelly Martin. My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
