September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when M/RCPL joins with the American Library Association (ALA) and public libraries nationwide to make sure that our students have the most import school supply of all – a free library card. We can’t wait to see you with a brand new shiny card in your possession! Anyone can get a library card–it’s free, remember?–but you need to show two forms of ID (one that includes your current address) to get it.
There are SO many reasons we can’t wait for you to use your new card! Endless possibilities are unlocked with a library card. For instance, did you know that in addition to access to movies, music, books, and magazines, we also have several copies of the newspaper available each day? We’ve got local and national news just for you. We also have an online subscription to our local paper that you can access for FREE here at the library. We’ve got databases for research, ebooks you can download to your electronic reading device, audio books and printed maps for long car trips, and a variety of programs or story times for people of all ages!
Bring your children to any of our locations during the week of September 23rd to participate in a scavenger hunt featuring library cards. The kids can have fun searching for the pictures to check off and get a small prize at the end. If it has been a while since you’ve been here, come on over and check out what’s new. We’d love to see you and your family at the library!
