Happy Birthday, R. L. Stine!

Today is R. L. Stine’s birthday!

Mr. Stine was born on October 8, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio! Best known for his Goosebumps series, Mr. Stine started writing when he was nine years old and has published over 300 books!

Mr. Stine credits two sources for his popular books: his memory and his imagination. Since he enjoyed scary stories as a young boy, he decided he would write scary stories for children as an adult. He is quoted as saying: “My job is to give kids the CREEPS!”

Creepy, perhaps, but Mr. Stine wants everyone to enjoy his books and get a laugh from them as well as be a little frightened. And it must work since Goosebumps alone have sold more than 350 million copies! In fact, the series just celebrated 20 years! Add to that movies, a TV series, audiobooks–Mr. Stine is a popular storyteller!

So help us celebrate Mr. Stine’s birthday by picking out one of his 300 books and reading with us!
