Summer Library Program Update

We have had a great time so far this summer!  Our Summer Library Program (SLP) has been going well, and we’ve been incredibly busy signing kids up, offering programs, hosting performers, and encouraging kids to read this summer.

So far, we have over 4,000 children from birth through 6th grade signed up and reading (or being read to)!  We’ve just passed our half-way point, so be sure to keep those visits and reading records coming.  Way to go, Richland County!

If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t worry–there’s still time to Dream Big–READ!  We don’t wrap up the reading program until the end of July.  Check out our SLP page for all the details.  While you’re there, be sure to view the slideshow highlighting some creative decorations at our different locations.

We’ve had some pretty fantastic performers:  Matt Jergens, a Columbus-area juggler and entertainer; Dave Lehman, a local magician; and Dr. Weirdo, a Mad Scientist from the Canton area.  We are taking a break this week, but we’ll have more the f0llowing two weeks featuring Zak Morgan, a GRAMMY-nominated musician, and Alligator Eric (no, he WON’T be bringing an alligator!).

We’re also gearing up for our “Create a Creature of the Night” Contest.  It begins Monday, July 2nd and runs through Friday, July 20th.  Be sure to pick up an entry form at any of our locations, or you can find it online on our SLP page.

See you at the library!
