Harry Potter Turns 15!

How time flies! This week marks 15 years since the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was published in the United Kingdom! Of course, we know it as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which was published in the United States a year later. Whichever title you prefer, this one book introduced a best-selling series that has kept kids and adults alike entertained and fascinated by the magical world of wizardry for 15 years!

With seven books in the series, publications in more than 60 languages, and movie adaptations of each book, Harry Potter is one of the most recognized fictional characters of modern children’s literature. Over 450 million copies of J. K. Rowling’s popular series have been sold since The Philosopher’s Stone was released on June 26, 1997. And the series remains just as enjoyable today as it was 15 years ago!
