Summer Reading in Style

Get ready for a summer full of reading fun!  This summer we’re bringing the world to you with the “One World, Many Stories” theme.  In fact, we are so sure you’ll love what we have to offer—and we have offerings for babies, children, teenagers, and adults—that we are going to give you a free book this summer just for reading!

OK, so everyone who reads and completes the children’s Summer Library Program (SLP) gets a free book, but we know you’ll love coming to the library this summer and taking part in all of our programs, performers, and activities.  Best of all, everything we offer is free: you are free to read, free to check out, free to participate, and free to have fun all summer long!  (And yes, we are air conditioned!)

The illustrator who has offered his colorful drawings and inspiring art for the multicultural summer theme is Rafael Lopez, an artist born in Mexico and currently living and working in San Diego, California.  If you are not familiar with this artist, you are missing out on an entire rainbow of amazing colors, scores of whimsical animals, and pages of delightfully inviting illustrations.

Mr. Lopez has illustrated the following picture books:

Whether you read at home or at the library this summer, be sure to join us for our Summer Library Program to get caught reading (and get caught having fun!) and earn your free book!
