The following Classes are offered by the Main Library Computer Lab. Sign up is required for all classes. Call 419.521.3146 for more information, or to sign up.


 Facebook Fridays

Fri. Sep. 18, Oct. 9 & 23, Nov. 13       9 AM-Noon

Drop in and find out about Facebook. Create profiles, upload photos & videos, send messages, and keep in touch with family, friends, & colleagues. This is not a class and no signup is required.

 

Internet – the Basics

We’ll explain the basics and give you plenty of time to try your hand at searching.


Mac – the Basics

Learn the basics of the Mac computer: Apps, Finder, LaunchPad, Mail, Messages and System Preferences.

 

Fix Your Photos

Using the free photo editor GIMP, learn to crop your photos, remove red-eye and blemishes and lighten a photo that is too dark.

Find out about Youtube and Pinterest in particular - search for cooking, crafts, diet recipes and lots more.


Make Your Photos Pop

Tue. Oct. 27 5:30–7:30 PM

With GIMP, pick a highlight color out of your photo to use in a border; add a special quote and you’ve got a piece of art to keep or share.


Word® – the Basics

Wed. Oct. 28 5:30–7:30 PM

This class will introduce word processing. Students will explore Word’s structure, learn to navigate in a Word document and how to format, save and retrieve a document.


Word® – Beyond the Basics

Wed. Nov. 11 5:30–7:30 PM

Students will expand their knowledge of Word by learning to customize the Quick Access Toolbox and other features. Autocorrect, the ruler and tabs will be explained, and students will create a calendar using the Table function.


Excel® – Advanced

Wed. Nov. 18 5:30–7:30 PM

Learn more advanced features of Microsoft Excel®, including creating pivot tables, using the IF function, VLookUp and Concatenate.


Word® – Advanced

Wed. Nov. 25? 5:30–7:30 PM

This advanced class is for you if you’ve taken the first two Microsoft Word® classes. Learn more advanced features of Word.


Create a Holiday Card

Mon. Nov. 30 5:30–7:30 PM

Create a holiday card with Microsoft Publisher®. Combine a special photo with the just right message.

Schedule a One-on-One for help with your new e-reader. The computer Lab staff is happy to help get your new device up and running. Whether you want to purchase books from Barnes & Noble or Amazon, or download books from the library's collection we are here to help. Call and make an appointment for individual help.

For individual computer assistance learning the basics of the library catalog, electronic databases and the Internet in a one-on-one session, or increase your computer knowledge. This computer assistance is offered at all locations. Please call your local library to schedule your individual session; availability may be limited.
