Miss Terry at Main
Meet Miss Terry at Main Library!
"My very favorite season is summer! I love everything about it, warm weather, cooking out, swimming, spending more time outside and, of course, the Summer Reading Program at the library!"
"I like many nursery rhymes but the Itsy Bitsy Spider is one of my favorites. Besides being a classic rhyme that all children should know, I like the fine motor skills that are involved, and I believe we should appreciate and be nice to spiders!"
Miss Terry would like to recommend these children's music CDs!
Disney’s Greatest Collection by Walt Disney Records
Recommended for ages 4 & up
I really like the Disney’s Greatest Collection. There are several volumes, Volume 2 is my favorite. These CDs are collections of Disney movie songs, from classic movies such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Bambi to the newer movies such as The Little Mermaid, the Toy Story movies, and more. I like this music because it can be shared inter-generationally, parents and grandparents can share and remember moves from an earlier time while sharing what children watch now. This type of music often helps us recall memories and times shared. I would also use this music in programming as it fit an appropriate theme or just for fun.
Singable Songs for the Very Young by Raffi
Recommended for ages 4 to 8
This CD is one of my favorite Raffi CDs. The songs include educational counting, rhyming and color songs as well as many classic children’s songs such as "Down by the Bay," "The More We Get Together" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep." The singing and musical accompaniment are slow and easy to listen or sing along to. Many of the songs are classic “stick in you head” songs such as “Mama’s takin’ us to the zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow, zoo tomorrow…"--you will be singing them long after the CD has stopped! I like this CD for learning and also just for fun.
