Miss Terry would like to recommend these fairy tales!

Little Roja Riding Hood by Susan Middleton Elya
Recommended for ages 4 & up

The traditional tale with a bilingual variation, this is the story of a small girl who loves to wear her roja (red) cape. While taking a basket of food through the woods to her sick Abuela (Grandmother), she encounters a Lobo (wolf). The sinister wolf steals the red cape and tries to trick the grandmother. The quick thinking and brave little girl, saves her grandmother and chases the wolf away. This delightful story incorporates the original story of Little Red Riding Hood with Spanish vocabulary, including a glossary. A slight twist at the end has the girl and the Grandmother saving themselves from the wolf instead of relying on someone else to do so.

Goldilocks and Just One Bear by Leigh Hodgkinson
Recommended for ages 4 & up

In this fractured fairy tale based on the traditional Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the role of baby bear and Goldilocks becomes reversed. A bear loses his way and finds himself in the busy city. Confused by all of the noise and bustle, he slips into a high-rise apartment building. Finding three bowls of porridge, three chairs and eventually three beds, he falls asleep. The bear is wakened when the human family returns home. After seeing the damage that has been done, and then the sleeping bear, the blonde haired mother recalls a similar situation when she was a girl. A reunion of grown up girl and grown up bear takes place with an ending that is just right.
