Picture Book Month

November 4, 2016

Halloween is over, but Thanksgiving isn't quite here yet, so what better way to keep busy than to read books? Lots and lots of books! It's Picture Book Month, and we have some great new picture books to share with you to celebrate.

Starting off with a slew of nighttime books, we've got some new ones for you to try out during the bedtime routine. Featuring an overexcited kitten who doesn't want to settle down, Cat Nap by Toni Yuly is a good one to start with. Next, you could try Rock-a-Bye Romp by Linda Ashman or Blanche Hates the Night by Sibylle Delacrois to find out what happens to kids who should be in bed, but aren't. Lastly, read Twenty Yawns by Jane Smiley as a way to reassure a child who wakes up in the middle of the night that nighttime really is for sleeping.

If silly stories are more to your liking, you'll want to try Barnacle is Bored by Jonathan Fenske; because even if being a barnacle is boring, the good news is that at least an eel won't eat you! Unlike barnacles though, children everywhere know that underwear is never boring, as you'll find out in Dance! Dance! Underpants! by Bob Shea. Frankencrayon by Michael Hall is a silly read about a scribble monster that also is perfect for children of all ages to enjoy.

Stop by the library sometime this month and grab a few new (or old) picture books to read together as a family. We still have a lot more suggestions to share with you!
