It's National Tell a Joke Day!

August 16, 2016

Why was the boy sitting on his watch? Because he wanted to be on time for National Tell a Joke Day!

Every year on August 16, people all over participate in a day of telling jokes and laughing. Want to hear a pizza joke? Wait, never mind, it's too cheesy. It's really easy to tell jokes, whether you heard them from someone else, read them in a book, or came up with them on your own. Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side, of course! But why did the pig cross the road? He got BOARed.

So what is a joke? A joke is described as something that is spoken, written or done with humorous intention. Jokes make people laugh and they are so much fun to tell! According to, telling jokes is good for kids:

  • It increases kids' confidence

  • Helps them to remember a story, order it and relate it to others

  • Stimulates their thinking

  • And well, it's just fun!

Want to celebrate National Tell a Joke Day? It's easy! All you have to do is find some really good jokes and tell one to every person you see!
