Book Review: Peep and Egg: I'm Not Hatching

March 8, 2016

Peep and Egg: I'm Not Hatching by Laura Gehl and illustrated by Joyce Wan

From Miss Marisa at the Main Library

This book comes just in time for Spring!  Poor little Peep!  All she wants is Egg to hatch because she wants a friend to play with.  But Egg just won't hatch.  No way.  No how.  Egg is ready to hatch, so what's the hold up?  Well, according to Egg, "Too scary.  I'm not hatching."  Poor Egg is afraid of the world outside of the eggshell.  Peep tries to tell Egg all the fun things Egg is missing out in the world.  But Egg still won't hatch.  Will Egg ever hatch?  You'll just have to read the book and find out!

Peep and Egg: I'm Not Hatching is a wonderful read aloud or read alone story for little ones!  The story is perfect for anyone who has felt a little nervous about going out into the world around them.  It explains the world can be a little scary, but it can also be tons of fun!  This book is a wonderful example on how someone (or some egg) can overcome fears.  The pictures are just delightful!  The colors are bright and vibrant and the pictures are cute and cartoonish.  This book is a hilarious and wonderful book to share with everyone you know!
