Crafting with Kids: Back To School

August 26, 2015

For most kids, school is again in session. Some may be excited for a new school year while others are not looking forward to long days sitting at a desk. We have some cool crafts to make going back to school just a little more fun!

One way to add some fun to school is to make one of these super easy bag tags! All you need is a pipe cleaner, a key ring, and some letter beads. What a great way to spruce up a book bag! Another way to give your bag some character is to make a paper bean keychain. While it takes a little more work, the result is pretty unique!

Pencil toppers are a great way to add some fun to doing homework! Try a bead figure topper, a spiral topper, or a craft foam topper. For older kids, fluffy puffy feather pens, marbleized pencils, and decorated pencils add a lot of pizzazz to writing! And speaking of homework, this cute pencil door hanger sign would be a great way to announce homework in progress.

For younger kids, try making this school bus activity. Just print off the provided sheet and let your child draw a picture of himself or herself riding the bus. Or to make it even easier, you can paste a photo in the designated spot. You might also try a schoolhouse collage, especially with kids who are nervous about the first day of school or preschool.

With a few craft supplies, a little time, and lots of imagination, you can get this school year off to a fun and crafty start!
