Back to School!

“Back To School”

Today I hurry off to school,
To work and learn and play.
I'm in a brand new grade this year.
What a happy day!

Well, it’s that time of year again! We’re sure everyone is excitedly getting ready to go back to school. We love the smell of new notebooks, pencils, and erasers. Most of all we love books all about school!

Stand Tall, Molly Lou Melon: Molly Lou Melon is different, but that doesn’t slow her down! A boy at school always makes fun of her size, her teeth, and how she can’t sing, but her Grandma always says, “Walk as proudly as you can and the world will look up to you.”

Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes: What can we say? We love Pete! Does he worry? Goodness, no! Pete the Cat is back, and this time he’s rocking in his school shoes all over the library, lunchroom, playground, and lots of other cool places. Pete never stops moving and grooving and singing his song, because it’s all good!

A Bad Case of Stripes: Camilla Cream has a bad case of stripes, possibly the worst anyone has ever seen! Camilla loves lima beans, but she never eats them because no one else at school likes them, and she is very worried if anyone finds out. She’s so worried that that she breaks out into stripes, polka dots, and so much more. Can Camilla learn to be true to herself? More importantly, will she ever get rid of all those stripes?

Sideway Stories from Wayside School: Wayside School was supposed to be built with 30 classrooms all next to each other in a row. Instead, it was built sideways, the classrooms were stacked one on top of the other-30 stories tall! In this book are hilarious and fun stories about the school, teachers, and students!

Of course the library has great books, but we also have awesome resources for teachers and students alike! Check out TeacherZone!!!

  • Teacher Resource Packs: Need materials for lesson plans? We know how busy teachers are during the school year that is why we have teacher resource packs available. Call the library for a good selection of books, music, and movies on a certain topic for a lesson plan, and pick them up at your library branch at your convenience!

  • Teacher Library Cards: These library cards are available for all teachers that teach in a Richland County school. Books, music, and audio books can be checked out for 6 weeks for all your lesson plan needs! Just bring school identification and your library card to any of the library branches.

  • Know It Now: Chat live with a librarian! Know It Now is Ohio’s online reference service where you can get live help for finding resources for homework or research on any topic.
