Audiobook Appreciation Month
We are in the 3rd week of our Summer Library Program (SLP). Children, teens, and adults are encouraged to sign up, read each day or week, and get prizes. For those of us who are too busy to read, why not listen to an audiobook? You can listen in the car while you are driving or on your smartphone or music player while you are doing just about anything.
This month is a great month to become familiar with audiobooks since it is Audiobook Appreciation Month. The summer months are a great time for individuals and families to do something different than what they usually do. So if you've never listened to audiobooks before, go ahead and give one a try today!
You may know that we have a huge selection of audiobooks on CD and in MP3 format. But did you know you can also download e-audiobooks to your phone or MP3 player? You can do it from the comfort of your own home, and you don't have to worry about late fees since they automatically return themselves for you! What could be better than that?!
In Charlotte's Web by E. B. White, you get to hear the author read his own story. He does a fantastic job bringing all the farm animals to life. The Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder has actress Cherry Jones voicing the characters, and also includes fiddle music in the background. In addition to the classics, we have some new favorite children's characters like middle-schooler Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, brought to life by narrator Ramon de Ocampo and spunky kindergartener Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park, voiced by equally spunky Lana Quintal.
We'd love to know which audiobooks are YOUR favorite. Drop in and tell us anytime!
