Who Was...? series
From Miss Jennie at Ontario Branch

Our next book review is aimed at those curious kids out there who want to know all about famous and interesting people throughout history.  Read on to find out more!

Here's what Miss Jennie says:

"If you haven’t picked up one of these books yet, I highly recommend that you do!  This is an awesome nonfiction biography book series geared just for kids!  (Recommended for grades 3-7.)  These books are full of good facts, fun information, timelines and lots of illustrations.  With over 100 book titles currently out, there are plenty to choose from!  Different authors write for this series, but they all have the same feel.  Kids can read and learn about sports figures, presidents, famous musicians, explorers, inventors, civil rights leaders, authors, artists and so much more!  I think with these books, nonfiction will become more appealing than ever for kids!

"Kids can also get online and check out the Who Was...? website.  There, they can browse all the books in the series, keep track of which books they have already read, and mark which books they want to read.  There is also a Test Your Knowledge tab, where kids can answer 10 random questions for a timed score of how many correct answers they get.

"Keep an eye out for two new series that are coming, the Where Is...? series, which looks at famous places, and the What Was...? series, which takes a closer look at famous events in history."

Thanks, Miss Jennie!

We love hearing about new and noteworthy non fiction books that make kids want to read!  To see what we have available, check our catalog.  (Also included is the Who Is...? series featuring people like J.K. Rowling, Steven Spielberg, and Muhammad Ali.)
