The summer is just over 1/3 of the way over and we've been busy! We've been Fizzing, Booming, and Reading at the library for our Summer Library Program (SLP) and have enjoyed performers like cartoonist Jeff Nicholas, juggler Matt Jergens, and recording artist Zak Morgan. We've also had preschool story times at the Main Library and various programs for school age children such as Wonderful Water, Phew! What Stinks?!, and Sounds Amazing! at all of our other locations.
This week brings us a break from regular programs and performers, but we have a summer scavenger hunt and the start of the Build a Robot contest to keep you busy (find the entry form here). Of course, there are always books! Check out Book Notes to find our newest titles for children, teens, and adults.
We still have three weeks of great performers coming up featuring the always popular Jungle Terry and his menagerie of wild animals, yo-yo genius Jake Maloney, and magician extraordinaire Dave Lehman. We have more programs to offer as well, including Wild, Wacky, Weather; It's All About the Reaction!; and Awesome Animal-ology. Several locations are also having movie showings and offering BINGO. Find the complete schedule here.
So here are the numbers: we have over 1100 children signed up just at the Main Library, and the total number including all the branch locations brings that number to over 4100 children who are participating in the Summer Library Program countywide. It's not too late to sign up, so visit a branch near you and see what the fun is all about!
