Author and Illustrator Dan Santat

June 16, 2014

Artist and Children’s Book Illustrator Dan Santat was chosen to create the art work for this year’s Summer Library Program, Fizz, Boom, Read! The science theme fits Dan well as his first degree was in microbiology. He knew soon after graduating that he wanted to pursue a career in art. Dan has much experience as an artist, in the video game industry, with magazines and working for the Disney Channel where he created the animated series The Replacements.

His first picture book, The Guild of Geniuses was published in 2004. Since then he has created artwork for many picture books, including Oh NO! (Or How My Science Project Destroyed the World) written by Mac Barnett. He created his first graphic novel in 2011. Dan has won many awards for his work with children’s books. He lives with his wife and two young sons in California. Many of his books can be found in our library catalog, so check one out today!
