School Lunch Hero Day & Star Wars Day

May 2, 2014

We're celebrating two totally made-up holidays soon: School Lunch Hero Day today (May 2nd), and Star Wars Day on Sunday (May 4th)!  Who cares if neither are actual holidays?  We love that we can set aside random days to be silly and celebrate fun things just because.  So how exactly do you celebrate either of these strange holidays?  Read on for more info!

On School Lunch Hero Day you could download an activity pack, greeting cards, or banners featuring characters from the Lunch Lady graphic novel series by Jarrett Krosoczka, or you could write thank-you notes to the school lunch staff at your school and be sure to wish them a Happy School Nutrition Employee Week from May 5-9!

Star Wars Day, on May the fourth ("May the fourth be with you!") would be the perfect time to introduce the next generation to the Star Wars movies, starting with the original trilogy, of course!  Here at the library, we've got lots of books and even some cookbooks that feature Star Wars characters.  Want to try some Star Wars origami?  We've got that, too!

Enjoy May, and have a great week, even if you choose not to celebrate either of these wacky holidays.  And if you're out of the loop and have no idea what we're talking about, just stop on in at the library.  We'll be sure to give you what you need to help you out!
