Celebrate Women's History Month
During the month of March, we celebrate women’s history. Formed in 1981 as a nationally recognized week in March to celebrate women’s contribution to society, this national celebration is now a month-long event. The National Women’s History Project was formed to recognize the achievements of women in science, government, art, sports, and all other aspects of life. The Project’s annual National Women's History Honorees help to point out successful women who have impacted humanity. Workshops and conferences are also held to highlight the roles of women in certain areas.
March 8 is also set aside every year as International Women’s Day. The purpose of this day is to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women all over the world. Celebrated since the early 1900s, many countries acknowledge this day and celebrate the importance of women in society.
Here at the library, we can help you celebrate Women’s History Month with all sorts of cool books about awesome women in history. So stop by this month and celebrate with us!
