Movies & Music (AudioVisual)
Audio Visual Services provides non-print materials for customers of all ages. The collection at the Main Library is substantially larger. Audio visual materials shelved at one location may be delivered to any other location for pickup. Materials being sent from Main Library to a branch will usually arrive the following day. Materials going from one branch to another may require two business days.
DVDs & Blu-ray
A large variety of entertainment and educational/informational DVDs and a new collection of Blu-ray discs are available at the Main Library. Many foreign films are also available. Entertainment and educational/informational DVDs and Blu-ray discs are available at all branch locations.
A collection of classical and popular music on compact disc is available at the Main Library. Branch locations also have small collections of popular music available on compact disc.
A variety of educational and recreational CD-ROMs for both adults and children are available for check-out at all locations.
Fiction and nonfiction audio books on CD and MP-3 are available for adults and teens and children are available at the Main Library and all branch locations. At the Main Library, children's audio books are located in the Children's Dept.
Materials for the Visually/Hearing Impaired
Closed captioned DVDs and Blu-ray discs are available at all locations. A small group of DVDs also contain a video description track. These are primarily PBS programs but a few are feature films.
Video games for WII, PS3 and XBOX360 systems are made available through our membershio with NEO-RLS. Video games are offered at various times throughout the year at each location.
Talking Book Program
Talking book machines can be acquired by any Richland County resident free upon sign-up with the Library of Congress' Talking Book Program.
