Teen Summer Library Program
Monday, June 4 – Saturday, July 28
Anyone going into Grades 6-12

Register anytime between June 4 and July 28 at any library location.  Read any book you want to, and then fill out an entry slip to win great prizes like gift certificates to Best Buy, Old Navy, and Barnes and Noble.  Don’t miss all the great programs just for teens!

Altered T-shirts Workshop
Grades 6-12 - Come to this workshop to experiment with T-shirts to create your own fashion design.  Learn how to cut it, deconstruct it, and reconstruct it to transform a plain T-shirt into something much more.  No sewing skills are necessary.  You bring the T-shirt, and the library will provide all other supplies and instructions.  Sign-up is required.

Book Bites    
Grades 6-12 -Join with other teens to talk about the best and worst books you are reading this summer.  Come prepared to share your opinions about books, movies, and more.  Feel free to bring your lunch or supper; desserts may be provided.  Sign-up is required.

Crime Scene with Tony Tambasco
Grades 6-12 - The crime scene holds clues, and forensic scientists piece the puzzle together.  Come and hear Tony Tambasco, director of the Mansfield Crime Lab, discuss the processes used to catch criminals.  He will also review some of the county’s cold cases and present forensic evidence that never made it to court.

Hippie Swirls           
Grades 6-12 - Drop in anytime to make this retro craft.  With a clear plastic bottle, a few drops of pearlescent ink, some water, and glue, you can make your own hippie swirl.  All supplies and instruction will be provided.  Sign-up is required.

Mug Designs           
Grades 6-12 - Let your artistic side shine through as you decorate a ceramic mug with your own personal flair.  Laura Jordan from the Sarah McPotts Pottery Studio will provide the instruction; you provide the creativity, and the library will provide the supplies.  Sign-up is required.

Paper Clip Art
Grades 6-12 - Much more than just your basic paper clip chain, this program will show you how to turn ordinary paper clips into amazing jewelry and accessories.  Learn the basic wire-working skills used by professionals, and then create your own unique paper clip art.  All supplies and instructions will be provided.  Sign-up is required.

Secret Code Chains           
Grades 6-12 - Fun, easy, and quickly completed, your imagination is the limit in creating these secret code chains.  Using different letters, colors, and size beads, create secret code backpack chains, where only you know what they say.  Design your own code or use one provided at the program.  All supplies and instructions will be provided.  Sign-up is required.

Harry’s Last Hurrah!
Grades 6-12 - What’s going to happen in Harry’s final adventure?  Before you find out, come to the library for a night of Harry Potter fun!  Dress as your favorite Potter character, take our version of the O.W.L.S., eat some Hogwarts-themed snacks, and make your predictions about what will happen in the “Deathly Hallows!”

CSI: Richland County        
Grades 6-12 - You’ve seen the television show, now register for CSI: Richland County.  Come and see if you have what it takes to be a crime scene investigator.  Snacks will be provided for all participants.

Teen Games:  Featuring a Forensic Science TV Show Match-Up, Mini-Suduko, a Crime Scene Word Search, Picture Puzzlers, a Name that Hero/Heroine Contest, Animal Noses, Fireworks Match-up, and a Missing Balloons Mystery Puzzle
Grades 6-12 - Can’t make it to any of the planned programs, but you still want a chance to participate in something more during the Teen Summer Library Program?  Then these quizzes and games are just for you.  Come in anytime during the Summer Library Program and ask for the current teen quiz.  Turn in a completed form, and possibly win a prize.

Inventions that Changed the World
Entire Month of August

Grades 6-12 - Did you know that Roy Jacuzzi invented the Whirlpool Tub?  Makes sense, doesn’t it?  See how many other inventors you can match with their inventions.  Turn in the completed entry form to a librarian for a chance to win gift certificates to Cinemark in the drawing from all completed forms.
