Book Review
Bloodtide
by Melvin Burgess
With London in complete chaos, two gangster families, the Volsons and the Conors, are rivals. Beyond the city lies the land of the halfmen, who are part human, part animal, and, in some cases, part machine. Hoping to bring about a truce and unite London, gang lord, Val Volson, offers his 14-year-old daughter, Signy, in marriage to gang lord Conor. Signy is stunned by the announcement. Conor is her mortal enemy. To live as his wife would be no better than to live as a slave for the rest of her life. Does she dare defy her father? And what will be the consequences of her rebellion? Read this great book to find out.

Riddles
A bus driver was heading down a street in Colorado. He went right past a stop sign without stopping; he turned left where there was a "no left turn" sign, and he went the wrong way on a one-way street. Then he went on the left side of the road past a cop car. But he didn't break any traffic laws. Why not?
Answer: He was walking.
If you have two hourglasses--one four-minute timer and one seven-minute timer--how can you measure nine minutes?
Turn over both hourglasses at once. When the four-minute hourglass runs out, turn it over. When the seven-minute hourglass runs out, turn it over. When the four-minute timer runs out this time (eight minutes have elapsed), the seven-minute hourglass has been running for one minute. Now turn over the seven minute timer back over. When the timer runs out, nine minutes have elapsed.
