Teen Advisory Board's
Pick of the Web
Ask Jeeves
www.ask.com
www.ask.com is a great site. This is a site where
you just type in your question, and you get results. They have
stuff from colleges to sports to ancient civilizations. You only
get what is related to your question. You will get good results
if you keep your questions specific and don't put more than one
idea or question in one search, otherwise you'll get millions
of results. So if you need answers fast, this is the site for
you.
CNN.com
www.cnn.com
This is a popular site, but not among teens. I know
that it sounds pretty boring, but they always have up-to-date
news. You always can get the latest about current events all around
the world. If you want to broaden your horizon, go to www.cnn.com.
EasyJournal: What's Your Story
www.easyjournal.com
This is an awesome site that, as the name suggests,
is an EASY online JOURNAL. You can write in it, share it with
friends, or just keep it for yourself. You can also check out
a lot of other people's journals too, even if you're not a member.
I've gotten a LOT of my friends to get an easy journal. I tell
you that it is awesome! It's cool because you can change font
colors, and it's just a really cool journal site. The best part
is - it's FREE! It can't get any better than that!
Google
www.google.com
This is one of the best and widest search engines
around. Anyone can just type what he or she wants to know and
usually there are fifteen or more different results available.
The only problem is that you need to keep the topic very specific
in order to find what is best for you. This site is great for
anyone who wants to find answers.
Information Please:
Online Dictionary, Internet Encyclopedia,
Atlas, and Almanac Reference
www.infoplease.com
If you have homework of any kind (especially history
or language), then this web site is for you. Infoplease has dictionaries,
encyclopedias, almanacs, atlases, and reference sources. You won't
need to go anywhere else because Infoplease is filled with information.
Meg Cabot
www.megcabot.com
This is the super-awesome Web site of my favorite
author Meg Cabot. (She wrote The Princess Diaries and All-American
Girl-really awesome books!) The site has great interviews of her,
book previews, book excerpts, and a list of "coming attractions"
(new books). It has really cool graphics and a neat layout. Even
if you haven't read any of Meg Cabot's books, go to this site
to see why you really should!
National Gallery of Art
www.nga.gov
nga.gov is not a commercialized site. This site
involves art like paintings, sketches, oils, and more. You'll
find out information about Leonardo da Vinci and his famous painting,
the Mona Lisa. There are even auctions of paintings from Van Gogh,
da Vinci, and others. If you are into art, this is the site to
take a look at.
Neopets
www.neopets.com
Neo Pets is a site where you can make and take care
of your own online pet. Check it out; it is very fun.
WiseNut
www.wisenut.com
I'm pretty sure when the words "search engine"
are heard, you probably think of Google or Ask. But I have found
another search engine, which gives you quality sites to go to.
Wisenut helps you find sites, which fit your description to the
max. This is also a great homework helper when you need info fast.
