A Crazy Day

I was lying on the sofa with remote control in hand
When streaming into my living room arrived a marching band.

Upon this bizarre sight I was startled, I will tell,
To see that the tuba player also had a bell.

But if this story sounds absurd, it’s nothing as of yet,
Because over in the corner were horses playing poker and one placing a bet.

Then just as I was calming down and thought it might be finished,
A brawny Pop-Eye tore through my ceiling and robbed me of my spinach.

I hastily dashed outside, and there to fit my dread
Was a miniature mutant Martian trying to steal my head!

I flicked the Martian off and started on my way,
When a pterodactyl swooped down and swiftly carried me away.

As to the destination I haven’t the foggiest sort of clue,
But out I pulled my pocket knife and sliced its wing in two.

As I lay hovering in the air, on a down-to-earth plummet,
I suddenly hit down on a mountain’s high peak summit.

I got up not knowing where I was at.
In the corner of an immense black cave sat a gigantic bat.

I said to the bat, “I’m lost and don’t know where I’m at.”
It said, “I’ll take you to your house if you’ll give me your little red hat.”

This concludes my story.  I hope you liked its rhyme.
And maybe I’ll have a good story waiting for you next time.

Deathly Hallows

Thy creeping hallows
Of death so slowing
Upon a mortal man so lowly.

The love of life had left his eyes.
He sat and watched
As the world around him dies.

His life passed him as a blur.
He smelled his sickly breath.
He closed his eyes for the last time,
Embracing his lowly death.

The maid walked through the grisly room
And saw his cold hard corpse.
The family gathered at his grave,
Heads lowered in remorse.

They said he was a noble man
But a tiny bit blurred,
And somewhere in the cold hard grave,
The dead man’s body stirred.

Fictitious Sunset

Some days just seemed so bad you couldn’t breathe
When night came you were so pleased to go to sleep
Let your dreams carry off your woes
Meekly smiling ‘cause your troubles would go

But in spite of the sunset’s glow
When you wake up nothing will change
Cry out in frustration and watch the snow
As it falls on another fictitious sunset

‘Cause you know you can’t put life to bed
You can’t ignore your problems even if you’ve said
That you were okay
Throbbing slowly your head whispers

The bedside lamp softly glitters
You won’t admit it
You’ve been running away from the daylight
Inside you know

But in spite of the sunset’s glow
When you wake up nothing will change
Cry out in frustration and watch the snow
As it falls on another fictitious sunset

Pretend that nothing is wrong and
Convince your heart that it is strong and
Say that every dawn is new and
Every word is true and
Yesterday won’t show

But in spite of the sunset’s glow
When you wake up nothing will change
Cry out in frustration and watch the snow
As it falls on another fictitious sunset

Effortlessly gliding into your slumber
Walk across time as you wander
Wish you could change so that you wouldn’t be crying
Sighing softly look towards the distance
Strive to see the future

Cry out in frustration and watch the snow
And it really is dawn, a truly new dawn
When you finally know
No ending can be happy unless you make it so
