Bio: Ellie

Hey, I’m Ellie.  I’m in 8th grade at Lexington Junior High School.  I’m a huge fan of music and books.  My favorite bands are Saving Jane and Daughtry.  I like any music that’s not rap or oldies with a few exceptions.  My favorite color is green.  I don’t have a favorite book, because I cannot choose just one.  My favorite subject is history.  I aspire to become a vet.  And my favorite animal is the horse.

Book Review:  The Sweet, Terrible, Glorious Year I Truly, Completely Lost It
by Lisa Shanahan

Gemma Stone is completely terrified pf public speaking.  Things go from bad to worse when Raven De Head, the local bad boy, starts to like her.  When her crush on future politician-to-be has her trying out for the school play, she’s dropped another bomb shell.  Her sister is getting married to a family of crazies.  Her future father-in-law is a war fanatic, and the daughter wears camouflage fatigues all the time.  See what happens to Gemma in this crazy life of hers.

Ellie’s Favorites:

  • Saving Jane – “One Girl Revolution” – This is a song reminiscent of Pink’s “Stupid Girl” full of chick power lyrics and feminism.  In short, it rocks!
  • Maroon 5 – “Wake Up Call” – I love this song’s tempo, and its unusual choice of song matter.  It’s something you can move to.  Chalk up another one for Maroon 5.
  • Daughtry – “Over You” – A song for every heartbroken person.  Just keep your head up, and you’ll get out all right.
  • Nickelback – “If Everyone Cared” – This song speaks the truth.  It makes you think of the rest of the world out there. We’re in this together.
  • 3 Doors Down – “Kryponite” – This is a song for all those rough patches in a relationship.  It’s about a person’s love and their struggle with it.
  • Boys Like Girls – “The Great Escape” – This song is for all of you people that just want to move.  So get out there and move, jump, and flail those arms.
  • LeAnn Rimes – “Nothin’ Better To Do” – This song is about escape.  Yes, it’s country music, but don’t put it down for that.  Get it a try.
  • Matchbox Twenty – “How Far We’ve Come” – This song has an awesome beat and great lyrics you can blast out of your radio.  So turn it up!
