Third Thursdays
Leafy Jar Lantern

This is a good way to recycle old jars and admire the beauty of the season.  The only supplies you need are:

Pickle or Spaghetti sauce jar
Tissue paper (all colors)
Elmer’s glue, watered down a bit
Paint brush (1’’ or smaller)
Votive or tea light candle

Gather some colorful leaves and put in a phone book for about a week to dry.  Tear up the tissue paper into small pieces.  Spread the glue on the jar with paint brush.  Put a few leaves on the jar and start covering the jar with the tissue paper.  Try to use lighter colors of tissue over the leaves.  When jar is completely covered with tissue, add another layer of glue on top of everything.  Let dry.  Light your candle in a dark room and see the leaves shine through the glass.  Now you will have a reminder of the beauty of Fall the whole year.  Enjoy!
