The Benefits of
Summer Camp

Summer has arrived! Your kids are so excited! They have time to relax, catch up on some summer reading, look for shapes in the clouds…..

Yeah, right! I can hear kids throughout the state of Ohio in one united voice saying those words we all know we will hear………."I'm Bored!!!"

Consider sending your kids to summer camp. Summer camp is a place where children can meet new friends and participate in fun activities that they may otherwise never have the opportunity to try.

Going to camp fosters independence in a child while broadening social skills. A good camp can also strengthen the awareness of the bond between man and nature.
Choose a camp that works best for you and your child. There are daytime only programs as well as overnight camps. Children as young as 7 can enjoy an overnight experience, but might need a shorter session (1 week). Older kids might enjoy a longer camp experience (2-3 weeks).

Most kids will struggle with homesickness, but rarely will need to come home because of it. Talk with your child before they go off to camp about this and send letters frequently to them from home. Equip your child with paper, envelopes, and stamps so they can write back to you.
If summer camp seems a bit pricey for your budget, here are some suggestions.

  1. Sign up early! Sometimes you can save money by signing up in advance.
  2. Tell a friend! Some camps will give you discounts for referrals.
  3. Ask about camp scholarships.

Check our these websites in the Mansfield and surrounding area to find out more about summer camps!!
